I got a call today from the Boys & Girls Club wanting me to entertain during a music festival. They want to introduce the kids to a woodwind.
How fun is that? Only, last time I was there one of the kids told me my last note was off-key. :(
Today I played at a retirement community. It's fun there since I go every other week. The residents like being entertained during their dining hour. Some clap, some smile, some have blank stares. And, some simply hit the tabletop with their hand. It's all the strength they have.
The most touching thing that happened involved a stroke victim. She couldn't speak. So, she took a pen and pad of paper and wrote how much she loved my music. She wouldn't let me go until she painstakingly wrote every word. I'll keep that note forever.
It's just great seeing how music affects people in different ways.
